Text Box: RR10 Series – The changes for the 2004/05 Season

The three races missing from last year’s series are West Wood, as organised by Team Solent, Worthy Down (organised by Wessex) and our own Ashurst venue. These have been replaced by the Rose Bowl, Farley Mount and Stoke Park Woods (Bishopstoke) respectively. The reasons for these changes are different for each venue.

West Wood is difficult to marshall, and it was felt that the venue was due for retirement. Worthy Down is considered to be a good venue, but we could lose it at any time since it is ministry land and we might not retain access if things changed globally! Our venue at the Happy Cheese/Ashurst is perhaps the least varied/interesting course and car parking is a nightmare.

The Rose Bowl is the newest venue to the series since the other two (Farley and Stoke Park) have been used before. The course will start and finish in front of the grandstand at this, the county ground, and run over varied terrain in between. The bar and facilities should be available to us.

Farley will be a new route over some of the many paths in the area.

Our event is now at Stoke Park at Bishopstoke. The exact course is still to be decided but we may continue with the 2 lap route as used in years gone by when this venue was part of the series.
