Evening all. Tonight I have sent our committee email update to all members to highlight latest news and upcoming events. If you’ve not received the email, please check your junk folders. Mine went into my junk folder tonight even though it has been delivered straight to my inbox in the past. Odd. Will see if I can find out why this might be! Thanks, Nicola
MILE OF MILES The Mile of Miles event takes place on Wednesday 14th June at 7:30pm on Southampton sports centre athletics track. It involves running 1 mile each (4 laps of the track) in a 10 person/10 mile relay. We have entry for 3 teams and each team must have at least 2 women. This event is open to all abilities. As spaces are limited I will allocate people into teams on a first come first served basis! We will also need a few reserves and 3 people to help with recording the times for the teams. Please comment below if you would like to take part! (Sarah)

RR10 – 17th May – 7:30pm Here is Matt from NFR to tell us all about it: Hello everyone, Please find attached a PDF with directions and a route map for the New Forest Runners RR10 at Wilverly, New Forest 17th May 2017 @ 19:30.. Our 2017 route has had slight updates made from our routes from 2012-2016 (also included in the PDF (page 3) for completeness). We had hoped to use the forest more for our route, similar to our CC6, but the Forestry commission stamped on that idea (due to nesting birds) so we’ve updated our older route to make it easier to run and hopefully more enjoyable. The updated route has three sections (with a small loop making up the middle section – its clearer on the 2017 map, trust me). 90% of which is on good forest paths with the vast majority capable of running shoulder to shoulder. We’ve removed the muddy down hill section from previous years and taken out one of the wooden sections but hopefully the updated route will be viewed as an improvement. Extracts from the..

LONDON MARATHON BALLOT! You have until Friday this week to enter the official London Marathon ballot! The club will receive a small number of places through our affiliation (number of places yet to be confirmed). Please read through our club ballot process to see if you are eligible to enter this as well. You must enter the national ballot to be in with a chance of winning a club place, and we also ask you to help us by volunteering at some point for LRR during the year of the ballot. Further details on this and all other criteria is here: http://www.lordshillroadrunners.org.uk/races/london-marathon-club-ballot-procedure/ Good luck! (Nicola)
RR10 #2 Now there’s been a bit of rain to soften the ground, we can look forward to the next RR10! Here’s Totton RC to tell us all about it: “It is Totton Running Club’s turn to host the next RR10 on the 3rd May at Stoney Cross/Janesmoor Pond. Just in case you are new to the series I attach, below, a link to mapometer to help you find the car park. http://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_4068293.html We would recommend car sharing as car parking at Janesmoor Pond will be limited. Once the first car park is full please park at Stoney cross which is about 400 meters down the road from Janesmoor Pond, on the right hand side. The start and finish of the race will be between the 2 car parks. DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS VERGE along the main road. Due to nesting birds in the area the race route will be on gravel and concrete/tarmac paths, with the last 200meters on grass. It is the same route as last year cover 4.7 miles, link attached to route. We recommend cross or normal trainers. http://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_4297024.html..

Morning all. We have received an email from a local visually impaired lady who is looking to get back into running. She would like to get back up to about 5k but is no longer able to run on her own and would love to buddy up with someone who can be a guide runner. It would be very informal and social. Do we have anyone who would like to help? If so, please could you send us an email or private message so we can discuss further. Thank you, Nicola

RR10 #1 – NETLEY Itchen Spitfires Running Club and Southampton Athletic Club are looking forward to welcoming you to the first event of the new RR10 season, which takes place on 19th April 2017 at Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley. The start / finish is on the main field next to the historic Chapel, but due to extensive building works taking place, the start will be on the south side of the field towards the water. The route is approximately 4.6miles in total, consisting of two complete laps, with a third, shorter lap to finish. As most of you already know, Roger Bradley will be running the Southampton marathon on Sunday. As the oldest entrant, he has been invited to use the VIP area in Tapas Barcelona. Roger will be fundraising for The Mankind Initiative and will be wearing a ‘Beefeater’ costume. He has asked me to let any other LRR Southampton marathon runners that they MIGHT (and it’s a big might!) be able to make use of the shorter toilet queues and VIP facilities if they are near to the venue. Good luck all Nicola
