LORDSHILL KIT DESIGN A quick reminder and for those that haven’t checked the last committee email: You may remember that we received a fantastic response to our kit survey. We now invite you to get creative and send us your designs! Please provide a clear image and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, 31 July. We will then shortlist the entries and ask all our members to vote for their favourite. In order to be considered, your design must… • be white, blue and red – but white doesn’t necessarily need to be the dominant colour • include the LRR logo – please indicate where this would go; you don’t need to draw the logo • be suitable for t-shirt and vest You may submit multiple entries. The designer of the winning entry will bag themselves a free vest or t-shirt. Good luck!
WEDNESDAY NIGHT TRAINING This week is our turn to ‘drop out’ of the RR10, so please do not turn up in Whiteley expecting to run! Instead, why not come along to Wednesday training. If you buy a pair of shoes you get £60 in-store credit on clothes. Anyone interested?! Nicola

RR10 UPDATE – as some of you may be aware, the Marwell RR10 scheduled for 5th July has been cancelled (by Marwell). After a great deal of effort from our RR10 committee and Malcolm Price, a new venue in Wide Lane has been booked for Wednesday 23rd August. Further details to follow nearer the time. (DiM)
*** Marwell RR10 on 5th July is cancelled *** Unfortunately, owing to an administrative mix-up at Marwell Zoo they have withdrawn permission to use their site on that evening so the organising clubs have had no option but to cancel the event. They are hoping to reorganise an 11th race at an alternative venue on another Wednesday in August. If this can be done I’ll let you know as soon as we have the information. (Tony)
WEDNESDAY NIGHT TRAINING In case you have not seen Martin’s post, tonight’s training will be changing to a fartlek session (due to the weather). If you have not been before, this is a multi-ability group meeting at the Bellemoor Triangle on the common at 6.50pm for a 7pm start.
Track is closed on Saturday! If you intended to use the track this weekend, please read this message from the SAC Chair, Ritchie Pearson: “Active Nation will be holding their Active Warrior event on Saturday 1st of July so the track will be completely closed. The obstacles will be built on the previous Thursday 29th June and at least one of them will be adjacent to the throwing cage. Originally AN wanted to close the throwing cage on the Thursday however it now looks that junior throwers will be ok but would throwers please be careful that they do not damage the obstacles . The track will remain open on the Thursday and Friday. Would everyone pass this message round so athletes do not turn up on the Saturday expecting to use the track” (Rikki)
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who gave up their time to help organise, set up, marshal or clear up the Lordshill 10K yesterday. We have had some really positive feedback from those who took part, and we could not have made it such a sucess without your input. A big shout out as well to our fantastic Mens and Ladies teams who represented us on the course, including Aaron Gallimore who had already fitted in another race beforehand!
RR10 MANOR FARM Here are the results from tonight’s race. Well done to everyone who braved the heat, it was a tough race! (Lucy)
Please HELP! We need a couple of people this Saturday afternoon to help sort out the signs for the 10K and put them in the vans in preparation for Sunday morning. If a few people come and help this means the 10K committee won’t have to work around the clock to get this all done. THANK YOU!
Calling all Lordshill 10K Marshals! Detailed instructions have been sent to your email addresses, but here’s the short version: 1. Unless otherwise instructed in your personalised email, please arrive at Ordnance Survey by 8.20am (Explorer House, Adanac Drive, Southampton SO16 0AS) 2. You will receive a high-viz bib, water, and an energy bar and additional instructions. From there you can go to your marshal position (walking, cycling, driving, whatever makes sense depending on your location) 3. Each team has a lead marshal who will ensure you arrive at the correct marshal point, but please also check the location map we have sent you (you will receive a paper version of this on the day). 4. Please car share or arrive by bike where possible – the race is sold out and we don’t have a lot of parking spaces. 5. Please ensure you have a charged mobile phone with you in case of emergency Arrival time exceptions: – If you’re doing signage on the day, this starts from 6am – If you are a car-park..
WEDNESDAY NIGHT TRAINING There will be no training tonight due to the RR10 at Manor Farm. See yesterday’s post for more information.
RR10 – WEDNESDAY 21st: MANOR FARM Hedge End Running Club has the pleasure of hosting Race #6 of the 2017 RR10 series. This will take place on Wednesday the 21st of June at Manor Farm Country Park, which is on the outskirts of Hedge End, just off Junction 8 of the M27. The nearest postcode is SO31 1BH. The drop out club is New Forest Runners. Route: The route is the same as the past few years. It is a single lap of about 5 miles with a small climb towards the end of the race. The course map can be downloaded from here. Safety: The course is mainly dry at the moment, although one section in the woods is quite muddy and trail shoes are recommended. Spikes are not suitable. The dry weather in the Spring has exposed more tree roots than normal, which we will try and mark wherever possible. There are narrow sections through the woods and a very uneven section along a bridleway where extra care should be taken. Parking: As ever, we expect parking to be tight, so please car share as much as possible…
Lordshill Midnight Runners results: Also Ali Ayres and Alison Crooks did the Half in 2:02:03 (6 minute PB) and 2:00:15 respectively. (DiM)
