Committee Nominations Needed At Monday’s committee meting, it became apparent that there will be some vacancies on next year’s committee, due to be voted in at the AGM on 25th September. In particular: * Membership Secretary (Administrating membership applications and registration) * Social Secretary (Organising social events) * Communications Officer (Administrating social media) * Male Vice-Captain (Encouraging all-ability race participation) * Treasurer Please consider nominating yourself, or encourage a suitable friend, as the club needs its members to give back through volunteering, to help the whole thing going. A nomination form was e-mailed to you, or else you can sign one at the AGM. It is a rewarding task, and you get to work with some of the friendliest and smartest members of the club 😉 If you have any questions about what the roles involve, please comment below.
CC6 #1 FLEMING PARK Great performances all round this morning, including Patrick Stumpf finishing 2nd! We were lucky with the weather and it was a dry race with little mud and pretty good underfoot. Many thanks to Itchen Spitfires, Eastleigh and Hedge End for organising, the marshals were exceptional with warm encouragement throughout the race with good instructions and directions. The next CC6 will be at Whiteley on 1st October, see you there! (Lucy)
Hi everyone I have been in talks with the Southampton Park run people and suggested another park run take over by LRR. After the great turn out we had last time i’m sure we can all do the same again. If you are available and would like to support this we currently have the following roles available. The date for take over will be 14th October I will stress that roles will be filled on a first come first serve basis so it might be worth suggesting a few roles you can fill so I can accommodate everyone. Well done to everyone who entered the quiz last night, hope you all enjoyed it. There were some tough questions in there! Who knew there was so much knowledge of statues, Shakespeare quotes and the Trump family in the club?! Big thanks to Rich for hosting and congrats to the winning team Run DMC&F
Friday’s quiz starts at 7:30pm (not 7pm as previously published). That’s half an hour extra cramming time
CC6 #1 FLEMING PARK The new CC6 seasons starts this Sunday! Here’s the low-down from Lee of Itchen Spitfires: “With the new CC6 season almost upon us, we are pleased to share with you details for this Sunday’s race, which is hosted by Itchen Spitfires Running Club, with Eastleigh and Hedge End. The location of the race is as the same as previous seasons on the old golf course, at Fleming Park in Eastleigh. The nearest post code for the event is SO50 9LH which is for the adjacent Pavilion. The course itself is approximately 4 miles, consisting of 3 laps of the attached route. The route is predominantly on grass (we have to keep the paths clear for park users), with elements of gravel track, so you can expect the usual array of mud and undulations underfoot. The course route, license and risk assessment are attached for your information. The race will start at 9.30am PROMPT, so please arrive in good time for this. There is on street parking nearby, or at the local leisure centre, but we..
What a busy day of running! Surprise races leading to victory (well done Alison Caldwell), the Stockbridge 10k, the New Forest Marathon Festival to name a few. It was also the Lakeside Relays in Portsmouth, a suitably fun and low-key but competitive event with our FV50 team taking 1st place in their category (don’t ask how many teams there were – aware!). Well done to Elaine, Angela and Clare (Tony)

Lakeside Relays – 10th September – last call This was a very well received event last year. Teams of 3 run just under 5km each on a fast flat course. Teams must be of the same gender. All abilities welcome. Do you want to take part? Do you have a team of 3 already? The closing date for entries is Thursday 31st August so if I could have all positive replies by 8pm on Wednesday 30th August please. We can submit age category teams (e.g. v40, v50, etc) which might make for some friendly rivalry with other clubs. Either post below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with entry details (Tony) http://www.hampshireathletics.org.uk/events/roadrelays.html
Anyone want my Overton place? I can no longer make it. (DiM)
A black glasses case was found inside the tent at last night’s RR10. If you have a lost one, please get in touch!
RR10 – WIDE LANE: RESULTS! Well done to everyone who made it over to Eastleigh for the final RR10 of the year! What did you think of the new course tonight? Provisionally, it’s looking like the women & the men’s A teams have both finished 2nd overall! Great running everyone! What has been your highlight of the season? Are you looking forward to the start of the CC6 league next month?? (Sarah)
RR10 – WIDE LANE, EASTLEIGH. The final RR10 of the season!! > Wednesday 23rd August sees Eastleigh RC’s re-scheduled race at the Southampton University playing fields at Wide Lane Eastleigh > SO50 5PE (opposite Southampton Airport Parkway train station). > Please note this is a 7pm start time. > There is a large car park but please could we ask runners to follow the car park marshals instructions. > The course is flat and fast and surprisingly quite dry (at the moment!) > It consists of 2 main laps including the start loop, plus one finish loop making up the total mileage of approximately 4 1/2 miles. > We ask all runners to respect the playing fields and stay off of them as we are only using the outer perimeter, and we do not want to lose this venue for any future use as it has certainly helped us out of a hole this year. > Please keep to the right hand side of all the running markers at all times unless otherwise indicated by marshals. > There are toilets on site but we would please ask..
Don’t forget it’s the final RR10 of the season next Wednesday, 23 August (7pm). It will be the replacement race from Marwell which was cancelled in July. Let’s get lots of LRRs running and supporting this last RR10 trail run fun of the season! See the events page for full details.
RR10 HURSLEY – RESULTS! Here are the results from tonight’s RR10. Well done everyone! The final race of the season is next week (24th) at Wide Lane, Eastleigh. Watch this space for more info. Hope to see lots of you there! (Sarah)
