Save the date!

On Sunday, 25 June, Lordshill Road Runners will host the annual Lordshill 10K race and what’s more, this year it will form part of the HRRL league! This means that the race will be bigger and better than previous years, so we’re now asking for your help.

Please keep Sunday, 25 June 2017 free in your calendars so you can help on the day with setting up, marshalling and any other jobs that will make the race a success.

We are also looking for more committee members to help to organise the race. At the moment, only a handful of volunteers are organising everything, all of whom were on the committee last year. We need new faces and fresh ideas! This is a great opportunity to learn how to organise an event, and it will look great on your CV as well. You will be matched with one of our experienced committee members, so you don’t need to worry if you haven’t done anything like this before. Typical roles on a committee are Chairperson, Secretary and Lead Marshal, but we will also need communications support such as promoting the race on social media and designing and distributing flyers.

As the 10K is a HRRL race this year, a couple of things will be different from last year:
  • All Lordshillers will be asked to help with volunteering roles, with the exception of a few runners who will make up the two fastest women’s and men’s teams. These runners will be approached by the respective Captains.
  • Unfortunately we will not be organising children’s races this year. We expect a much higher number of runners than last year, so it simply won’t be possible to organise both.

2017 London Marathon transport opportunity

With this year’s London Marathon fast approaching, the club committee is considering hiring a coach to make transport to and from the event much easier. If you’re going to London on Sunday, 23 April, either as a runner or a supporter, and you would be interested in group travel, please let us know by commenting on our Facebook post so that we can get an idea of how many bums on seats we could have. If you don’t have access to Facebook, please contact us via our website.

If a charity receives 6 nominations, it will have 6 tickets thrown into the hat.

Billy Bash

On Saturday 23rd January 2016 we’ll be hosting our annual end-of-year celebration (also known as the Billy Bash). We’d like to invite all our members and their partners to this evening of fun and to celebrate another great year of running. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spend some time with your running friends and get to know your fellow club members.

Join us from 7 til 12.30pm at St. Marys Stadium for a dinner and dance, including a three course meal, disco and more. We’ve listened your feedback from last year and we’re delighted to let you know that you’ll be welcomed with a complimentary drink, plus we’ll be making more time for guests to enjoy the dance floor!

Thanks to a generous subsidy from the club we are able to offer tickets at £26 per person, to include dinner, arrival drink and entertainment.

How can I book a ticket?
Email Alice Jones at to confirm how many tickets you would like to book, and the names of the ticket holders. To pay for your tickets, we prefer BACS transfer direct to the club – please see details below and ask if you have any questions. Once we’ve received your payment, we’ll confirm your booking by email.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be a great evening.
