What’s the committee been doing?
Meeting of 7th December
Key points discussed:
- New member Robert Kelly was welcomed
- Following attacks on Club members in Aldermoor Road 10
October ’06 your committee has produced safety guidelines for training
- Runs (See Roadrunner 12)
- Finances – a healthy balance with £3119 in hand
- Our 10m race post mortem – v. positive feedback from runners. Hefty police costs. Entries and profit down on last year. £237 profit
- Club Championships in 2007 – Fordingbridge 10 in October chosen, subject to there being no major clash of dates.
- The future of our 10m race – Derek is seeking permission to use part of Broadlands Estate-to be discussed at next meeting
- Club Bash/ Annual Social – Aurelio has kindly arranged a big discount for the Club to use P.O.S.H. including food and music on 20 Jan @ £10
- Our 10k – agreed for mid/late June ’07. Volunteers needed to help organise. Please contact Jenny Dawes on 023 80789492
- New Year run set for 30 Dec 11am Sports Centre pub. Draw will be taken for the 2 entries we have for London Marathon
- Eric Petterson requested pics and info for the website
- Annual awards were confirmed

Meeting of 15th February
Key points discussed:
- New members Darren Foy, Michael Green, Katrina Jeffery, Gary McCulloch and Anthony Ironmonger were
welcomed
- England Athletics Affiliation correspondence – felt to have important implications for LRR - agreed to sample
views of members before next meeting
- Finances - £2,896 in hand
- Our 10k race agreed for 24 June – please keep date free for marshalling. Jenny Dawes would like volunteers.

- Club Championships Race 2007 – Fordingbridge 10 was agreed. It is expected to be on 28 October. Date to
be confirmed in next issue.
- Our 10m race – we await a response from Broadlands to our request to take the route across the estate to
improve safety
- Social events – Mike and Deb Newman have kindly organised a Treasure Hunt for 13 May. Book the date now
- Road Runner will encourage electronic copies of the mag and minimise paper copies

Meeting of 29th March
Key points discussed:
- Up-date on possible affiliations to England Athletics or Association of Running Clubs widely
discussed, including views of members.
- Committee unanimous in recommending affiliation to EA – members to decide at Special
General Meeting called for 7/6/07
- Some former members had entered races as LRR members. Race organisers have been told. These runners to be contacted
- Finances - £3,158 in hand – increase partly due to new members
- Our 10m race ’06 made a reduced profit of £237 due to police costs
- Our 10k race is well under way for 24 June – entry forms ready – full info on our website –
on-line entry arranged with Runners World. ‘Generous’ mementoes will be awarded. Please keep
date free for marshalling. Jenny

Key points discussed:
- New members Edward Chapman,Peter Francis and Ann Goodchild were welcomed
- England Athletics Affiliation – arrangements for SGM on 7 June were made
- Finances - £3,522 in hand
- Buffet for our 10k race was arranged
- Our 10m race – Broadlands have agreed to our request to take the route across the estate to
improve safety – new route to be agreed
- Social events – Mike and Deb Newman have postponed the Treasure Hunt until September
- Arrangements for our RR10 at Stoke Park were made
- Eric Petterson has up-dated the website and seeks comments
- Agreed to review health and safety guidance before winter training
- Next meeting 12/7/07
Special General Meeting 12th June
Key points discussed
- For members to decide whether to affiliate with England Athletics or Association of Running Clubs
- Chairperson described changes in governance and meetings attended by representatives of LRR
- Debate took place and a vote was taken unanimously in favour of England Athletics
- Club will pay the £3 individual affiliation fee this year
Meeting of 12th July
Key points discussed:
• Amanda Kingsley will now run first claim for Southampton Running Club but will run RR10s for
LRR
• England Athletics Affiliation has been paid
• Finances - £2621 in hand
• Our 10m race – new route measured and largely agreed. Date fixed for 4 November. Forms
printed. Around 38 marshalls needed
• AGM set for 24 September at new venue, The Woodman
• LRR health and safety guidelines amended for winter season
• Eric Petterson has up-dated the website and seeks comments
• This was the final meetings of the committee which stands down at the AGM
